For those who do not know, Xaló or Jalón, is a municipality of the Valencian Community, located northeast of the province of Alicante, in the town of Marina Alta. It is no coincidence that this winemaking tradition has occurred in Jalón, since there are many factors that favor the creation of excellent quality wines in their lands:

If you like to play sports while enjoying the outdoors, in Dream Sun Spain We recommend a mountain route that will become one of your favorites. The level of difficulty is medium-low, so it is also suitable for the little ones in the house.
This is the Circular Route of the Serra de Bérnia, which begins in Casas de Bérnia, which can be reached by the CV-749 from Xaló or Benissa. Here, you can park your vehicle without any problem, as there is a very large parking lot.
From Casas de Bérnia, you can follow the signs on the post in the direction of Font de Bernia and el Forat. First, you will arrive at the Font (source) of Bérnia, where you can stock up on fresh drinking water. This is where the climb to “Forat” begins, a path that gets a little harder as we get closer to the walls of the mountain range, where there are a couple of easy climbs (here you have to use your hands). This path ends at the mouth of a narrow gallery that crosses the mountains, after passing it lowering your head, you come out onto a natural balcony with incredible views of Altea and the Sierra Gelada.
After enjoying one of the best views of the entire Costa Blanca, the path runs under the walls of the south face of the Sierra de Bérnia, descending and crossing several meadows, where you will find the first detour that indicates that, Going up to the right, you will find the cave paintings of the Ermita del Vicario. When you return to the trail, you have to continue the route and go through several information panels. Finally, you will arrive at the crossroads where the PR-CV 7 connects with the descent to Altea through the Font de la Barca.
From the crossroads, you have to continue in the direction of the Bérnia fort until you reach the flat where the ruins of the Bérnia fort are located. A Renaissance fort built in the XNUMXth century, from where you can go down in a few minutes to the Font de la Fort.
Following the path and leaving the fort behind, the path passes through a hill that surrounds the mountain range and descends back to the Casas de Bernia along a track, which can be cut a section along the path on the left.
This incredible circular route consists of 9,8 km of route and can be done in a period of between 2 and 4 hours, depending on each one.
